Up for sale, a 1983 Roland MC-202 MicroComposer in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This pioneering analog synthesizer was arguably the first Groovebox Roland ever made, technically predating that branding by more than a decade, featuring a 2-channel CV/gate sequencer and a single VCO with simultaneous sawtooth and square/pulse width waveforms (plus one Sub-Oscillator).
Other controls include a resonant Low-Pass Filter, LFO for modulation, Source Mixer, VCF, VCA, and Envelope sections. Sonically, the MC-202 will be very familiar to fans of the SH-101 and TB-303, particularly well-suited for rich, deep baselines. The sequencer is able to store multiple patterns and can chain them together for complex compositions, easily navigable via the LCD screen. CV and Gate inputs on the back allow for external sequencing and playing, and the MC-202 was one of the first Roland synths to support MIDI functionality, enabling seamless integration with contemporary gear. Programming of the sequencer is achieved via the two-and-a-half octave miniature pad keyboard, with approximately 2600 steps of memory total (roughly 150 measures with 8 steps per measure).
There is only light wear on the gray enclosure, the graphics are clean, and all original buttons, knobs, and slider tips are present. The serialized label on the baseplate dates to February, 1983.
