Up for sale, a 2010 JMI Burns Buzzaround in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This rare stompbox is an exacting modern reproduction of one of the most sought after fuzz pedals of the 1960s, the Baldwin Burns Buzzaround, a pedal with a near-mythic status among musicians and collectors alike. Emerging sometime between 65 and 68 following the merger between Baldwin Piano & Organ Company and Burns London, Baldwin Burns Ltd. produced the original circuit using three NKT213 germanium transistors governed by Sustain, Balance, and Timbre knobs, closely mirroring the circuit of the three-knob Tone Bender. The result was a distinctly versatile fuzz effect capable of achieving anything from smooth, sustaining crunch to smoldering, wild textures. Its scarcity, tonal uniqueness, and praise from legendary guitarists like Robert Fripp led to the reissue of a limited series of faithful reproductions by JMI under license of the Baldwin company in 2010, capturing the spirit of the 1960s original with a tag board circuit, NOS germanium transistors, and steel chassis.
There are a handful of small marks on the enclosure, with clean graphics and the original knob set in place. The interior of the unit is initialed and numbered (72) by the builders.
