Summary: This is one fine Japanese made instrument from 1982. The Yamaha SG1500 has a neck through body design, push/push pots for coilsplitting the humbuckers and a fast playing thin neck with the supercool split triangle B-2 Bomber inlays. This guitar has beengigged, played and rocked relentlessly for many years made apparentby the amount of honest playwear all over the guitar and deep groovesworn into the fingerboard. Fortunately, there is no headstock break,only the tuners and 3 way toggle have been changed and it has had aprofessional refret so it is playing great. It has just been setupby our in-house guitar tech and ships in an aftermarket hardshellcase. These guitars are often referred to as Les Paul killersfor their great tone and versatility, but they are also know to beheavyyy! This one is on the lighter side at 9 pounds 3 ounces and itfeels just fine on a strap.

Body: The body is 7 pieces in all, the 3 piece neck is one with the body,it is mahogany/maple with a carved top, transparent red finish, w/b/wbinding, double cutaway and it has a belly contour.

Neck: The neck-through-body design is made up of 2 pieces of maple with amahogany center piece, it has a slim 60s carve, bound rosewoodfingerboard, 22 frets, split triangle or as I like to call them B-2Bomber inlays, bone nut and multi ply w/b/w bound headstock. Ithas a 1.675 nut width and 25 scale length.

Pickups/Hardware: It has the 2 original Yamaha humbuckers, coil splitting toneknobs, 2 volumes, 3 way toggle, gold plated tune-o-matic style bridgewith hard engraved tailpiece, gold Kluson style tuners with greenkeystones, bone nut and the original gold easy grip knobs.

Cosmetics:This Yamaha SG has a lot of wear consistent with a guitar that washeavily gigged as someones main instrument for many year. It will bedifficult to note every single nick, ding and blemish so feel free toask questions and let the pictures be a guide as well. There aredings in the top of the headstock, scratches on the face of theheadstock from string changes, the back of the neck has been sanded abit, there are some small dents in the neck, chips in the finish andwear through the finish where the fingerboard meets the neck, thereare grooves worn into the fingerboard, some major deep grooves wornway up from the 14th-18thfret under the E string and only minor fret wear because the guitarwas refretted. There is buckle rash, pick scratches, dents, dings,and major wear through the finish all around the edges especially onthe bottom side, holes where the pickguard was mounted, extra hole inthe end where a strap button was moved a few mm and dings in thefinish on the top. There is evidence of the seams in the backseparating a bit but overall it feels very solid.

Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has just inspected, setup and restrungthis guitar with a new set of 10s. The neck is straight, the trussrod is fully functioning and the action has been setup low andcomfortable. The frets are in good shape with some minor grooves ordivots from use but it plays beautifully up and down the fingerboardwith no dead spots or choking out.

Modifications:changed tuners, new bone nut, refret, changed 3 way toggle, straplock style buttons are installed.
