Up for sale, a 2000 Lovetone Wobulator in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original box and paperwork. Handbuilt in the UK, Lovetone has enjoyed true if-you-know-you-know status amongst gear aficionados since their introduction in 1995, and the long list of artists and producers who have used Lovetone pedals includes Radiohead, Beastie Boys, Oasis, Sonic Youth, and Stereolab, to name just a few. Lovetones doors closed in 2001, but their legacy has endured, still much sought-after via collectors around the world for their pairing of vintage-inspired tonalities and modern reliability/tweakability.

The Wobulator is, in essence, a twin oscillator tremolo/vibrato, but as with most Lovetone pedals, there are a huge range of sounds available via the comprehensive controls that are virtually unachievable through any other unit. The modulator is split up into low and high frequencies, with independent outputs and modulation Depth controls, which can be thought of as separate paths from input (and can be modulated independently as such).

There are four basic modes:

-Tremulant moves Left and Right at the same time, with a cross-over effect where Left is low-pass filtered and Right is high-pass filtered.
-Panner moves Left and Right in anti-phase motion, without a cross-over, akin to a figure-of-eight auto-panner.
-Vibrato is the same as Tremulant but in anti-phase motion, creating subtle phase cancellation (and resultant pitch/volume changes) weirdness.
-Dual Trem uses the cross-over and introduces the second LFO; Left is driven by LFO 1 and Right is driven by LFO 2.

Each of the LFOs has an independent Rate control and can be toggled between Triangle and Square waveforms, enabling gated sounds that interact very uniquely with the stereo functionality. LFO 2, in particular, operates in a higher range and as such can access some unusual frequency modulation effects. There are also independent footswitches for Left and Right, enabling the user to disable either and force the remaining one against the dry signal for some of the strangest sounds on the pedal.

There are just a couple faint marks on the enclosure, the graphics are pristine, and the original knob set and large rubber grip pad on the bottom are present. In the easy-access battery compartment, the inspection sticker is dated 19/9/00.
