Up for sale, a 1962 Martin D-18 in excellent condition, complete with a hardshell case. This well-kept vintage Martin has received all the work due an instrument of its age, benefitting from a neck reset, pickguard reglue, and replacement bone saddle. Crafted at Martin’s North Street factory, this D-18 boasts a bevy of desirable features including hot hide glue construction throughout, the original small maple bridge plate, tortoise binding and pickguard, rounded peghead, and Kluson Deluxe single line tuning machines.

Tonewoods include a solid X-braced spruce top and mahogany back and sides, with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and bridge, offering a traditional Martin dreadnought tonal profile. This D-18 absolutely sings, with fantastic projection, power and immediacy, and theres an open, ringing quality to the sound that is indicative of a top thats been worked-in for decades. Presenting extremely well, there are just two minor repaired splits on top beneath the pickguard including the usual B string crack between the pickguard edge and bridge. There is moderate buckle rash across the bass side of the back and treble-side rim, light pick wear above the soundhole and extending in a couple tiny spots beyond the edge of the pickguard, and some minor dings and finish scratches consistent with decades of careful handling. The nitro gloss on the neck profile has an inviting, worn-in feel, with just a few shallow nicks and scuffs along the profile length that are not distracting to the palm while fretting.
