Description

We’re proud to welcome Gene Baker’s b3 Guitars to the TME family! Gene is a legend in the guitar world, long known for his flawless builds and meticulous attention to detail. He was a Senior Master Builder at the Fender Custom Shop, also worked at the Gibson Custom Shop, and was the builder responsible for building the Koll, Gustavsson, Fano, Schroeder, and Giffin guitars under the Premier Builder’s Guild brand to name a few highlights. Oh, and Robben Ford slung a Baker guitar for many, many years(as have many other pros).

The SL59 represents Gene’s goal of building” the ultimate in late 50s styled guitars. Hand crafted from only the finest materials and incorporating vintage correct appointments, the SL59 is the definition of ‘Burst Killer’.” Old Growth Mahogany, Brazilian fingerboard, accurate 59 neck carve, Holly headstock overlay with a silk screened b3 logo…no detail was left out, and it’s definitely something you can feel and hear.

Wired with a set of b3 PAF style humbuckers, a two volume, two tone (push/pull coil taps), 3-way setup, the SL59 sounds every bit the part as well. Clear and articulate neck and bridge position tones coupled with a sweet, forward midrange puts you squarely in vintage Les Paul land.

The big difference though? The SL59, with its Strat-meets-Les Paul body, is just way more comfortable to play. Better balance, a tummy cut, effortless upper fret access…all while sounding and looking very much like an old Gibson. Such a cool experience to play it, and one that easily hangswith the most lauded of replica style guitars on the market. While the SL59’s objective is to lean heavily into the more traditional side of the Les Paul world spec-wise, this design is the style of Baker guitar that Robben Ford used for many, many years – that says quite a bit, no?

Fans of high-end PRS, Yaron, Gustavsson, Probett, take note and check out this killer SL59 from b3 Guitars, you won’t be disappointed. A stunning guitar that delivers a new interpretation of a classic with remarkable results. Priced with hardshell case.
