Summary: This is a great sounding and rare Magnatone Hurricane bass with a phenomenal pickup and great feel. Everything about this bass from the body shape and size to the neck shape makes it super comfortable to play. The pickup sounds great. The roller wheel for the mute is not functioning but everything else is working properly. There are various scratches, nicks, dings, dents and small chips throughout the bass along with consistent weather checking and some areas of buckle rash worn through to the bare wood on the back. The fingerboard and frets are in great shape with only light play wear and tons of life left in them. The neck is super comfortable with great action.
Body: Solid single-cutaway body in a black & gold sparkle finish. Chrome tailpiece with four saddles, a thumbwheel for the string mute system (non-functioning) and a chrome tailpiece cover. 3-ply white pickguard with Magnatone logo, dual plastic control knobs, a thumb rest and pickup cover.
Neck: Comfortable and very nicely shaped neck with a rosewood fingerboard. White dot inlays, a zero-fret and a 1 11/16 metal nut which goes over the strings. Open-gear tuners, 34 scale length.
Pickups/Electronics: Original single-coil pickup.
Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this bass with a new set of flat wound strings. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.
