On par with the fines of contemporary mandolin family instruments, this cittern in redwood and black walnut boasts a deeply resonant voice, expressive and balanced across its entire (ample!) frequency range.
Tasteful appointments abound: body, headstock, fingerboard bound in grained, ivoroid; a thin abalone rosette; ebony headstock overlay with a beautiful”Painted Trillium” floral inlay; Allen tailpiece in gold with matching Gotoh tuners.
While it sounds wonderful in its standard tuning (low to high C-G-D-A-E), it responds very well to dropped tunings too, and excels played up the neck with a capo.
